Bylaw No. 776 – Land Use Bylaw Amendment and Removal of Municipal Reserve Designation relating to Water Reservoir and Truck Fill Station
Bylaw No. 776 proposes to amend the Village of Donalda Land Use Bylaw designation for the south part of Block R, Plan 867CF. The subject area is shown as hatched (black diagonal lines) in the drawing below and is located north of Township Road 42-0 and west of Railway Avenue. The Bylaw proposes to change this portion of the site from R1 Low Density Residential District to PU Public Use District to allow construction of a municipal water reservoir and truck fill station.
Council will also consider a resolution to remove the municipal reserve designation on the same portion of Block R, Plan 867CF.
Bylaw No. 776 may be viewed at the Village Office during regular office hours (9:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) or at www.village.donalda.ab.ca
The public hearing for Bylaw No. 776 and the public hearing for the removal of the municipal reserve designation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 7:00pm in Council Chambers at the Village of Donalda Office at 5001 Main Street, Donalda. The second hearing will proceed once the first has concluded.
Any person wishing to comment on the proposed bylaw or resolution may do so in writing to the Chief Administrative Officer, Village of Donalda, 5001 Main Street, Donalda, AB, T0B 1H0 or by email to cao@village.donalda.ca by August 10, 2026 or make representation at the Public Hearing.
The hearings will be chaired by the Mayor. Persons joining by teleconference or speaking in person will be requested to state their name and address for the record upon being recognized by the Chair. Council will hear verbal or written submissions from any person who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw and/or resolution. Persons may make oral presentations at the hearing regardless of whether they have provided written comments.
Following the Public Hearing, Council may proceed with second and third reading to approve the bylaw and may pass the resolution for removal of municipal reserve designation.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, Shirley McClellan Regional Water Services Commission will host a Public Information Session regarding the proposed water reservoir and truck fill station. Residents are invited to stop in, view display boards and find out more about the project. The Public Information Session will be a “drop in” format so feel free to stop in when convenient.
