📌 About This Notice

This is a combined Property Assessment and Tax Notice. It includes:

  • Your property assessment value, and
  • Your property taxes owing

👉 Important:
Even if you wish to appeal your assessment, taxes must still be paid by the due date to avoid penalties.

💳 Payment Options

Payments can be made using the following methods:

  • Online Banking: ATB, RBC, TD, CIBC, Scotiabank, Tangerine
  • In Person: Cash, cheque, or Interac at the Village Office
  • Mail: Cheque via Canada Post
  • Drop Box: Exterior red mailbox at the Village Complex
  • eTransfer: assistantcao@village.donalda.ab.ca
    • Security answer: taxes
  • Credit Card: Available through the Village website

👉 Please include your Tax Roll Number with all payments
Cheques must be payable to Village of Donalda

📅 Key Dates & Penalties

  • Tax Payment Due Date: July 2, 2026
  • Late Payment Penalty:
    • 10% applied to unpaid current taxes after July 2, 2026
  • Arrears Penalty:
    • 18% applied to unpaid taxes as of January 1, 2027

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Mail payments are considered received based on the Canada Post date stamp
  • Bank payments are received on the processing date (allow 2–3 business days)
  • Receipts are valid only once payment has cleared
  • Properties with unpaid taxes may be subject to tax recovery proceedings under the Municipal Government Act
  • If a mortgage company pays your taxes, you are responsible for ensuring payment is made on time
  • Filing an assessment complaint does NOT exempt you from penalties or payment deadlines
  • Refunds or adjustments will be processed if your complaint is successful
  • Notify the Village in writing of any mailing address changes

📝 How to File a Complaint

  1. Complete the official complaint form
    • Available: on the “Tax & Assessment Resources” tab or the Village Office
  2. Clearly explain your reasons and provide supporting evidence
  3. Include the required fee (per roll number):
    • Residential: $50
    • Non-Residential: $100
  4. Submit your form before the deadline shown on your notice to:

👉 Incomplete, late, or unpaid applications will be invalid

💡 Additional Information

  • If your complaint is successful, your fee will be refunded
  • If resolved before a hearing, your fee will also be returned

This notice includes both your assessment and your tax amount owing.
To avoid penalties, ensure payment is made by July 2, 2026, even if you are appealing.
